The Iroquois Steeplechase presented Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with a donation of $120,000 on behalf of the proceeds of the 2019 race meet at Percy Warner Park. More than $10 million has been donated to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt over a 38-year partnership.

“We are incredibly grateful for the nearly four-decade long relationship with the Volunteer Horseman Foundation and the Iroquois Steeplechase,” said Meg Rush, MD, interim President of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. “Over these many years, the support of these organizations has enabled us to build new floors, underwrite research initiatives and start or grow programs. This most recent gift to our Campaign Against Childhood Cancer will help develop space and programming for specialized care of children and adolescents with cancer. We are excited and thankful to have the Iroquois Steeplechase as our partner in all that we do.”

In addition to the hospital’s Soaring Higher, Dreaming Bigger: A Campaign Against Childhood Cancer, the Iroquois Steeplechase has also supported the current four-floor expansion, which will add 160,000 square feet of space to fulfill current and future health care needs of children from Tennessee and surrounding states. Throughout the years, the Iroquois Steeplechase has also supported Children’s Hospital’s community-based preventative health education and wellness programs. These programs targeted leading health issues affecting children such as obesity, early childhood development, school health and safety.

“Iroquois Steeplechase is a proud benefactor of the Children’s Hospital,” said Dwight Hall, Chairman of the Iroquois Steeplechase Race Committee. “To see the growth and the extensive impact that Children’s Hospital has had throughout the region energizes us to put on a successful event to assist in their efforts.”
