Snap Decision Makes History at Iroquois Steeplechase

History was made at the 2024 Iroquois Steeplechase as Snap Decision secured an extraordinary third victory in this prestigious event. Against a field of seven even weight formidable contenders, the tenacious ten-year-old gelding reaffirmed his status as a true champion, thundering down the beautiful turf of Percy Warner Park neck and neck with his foe, Vae Patron, a 6-year-old with his first start in America.

Fresh off a commanding 2 1/2 length triumph in the Temple Gwathmey Handicap Hurdle G2, Snap Decision defied the odds once again, showcasing his unparalleled prowess at level weights against his younger adversaries. With this historic triumph, he cements his legacy as a name fitting amongst the greatest competitors in steeplechase racing.

Despite the formidable challenge posed by six worthy opponents, including stalwarts like Noah and the Ark, Jimmy P, and Zabeel Champion, Snap Decision's determination and skill proved insurmountable. With Graham Watters once again in the saddle for trainer, Jack Fisher, Snap Decision raced slightly behind Vae Patron for most of the 3 miles, and then as they approached the final fence, Snap Decision took the lead by a neck length with an ecstatic crowd jumping and leaping for joy! The team’s victory not only reflects remarkable talent but also pays tribute to the dedication and expertise of the entire team, who deserve this achievement.

Snap Decision's triumph stands as a testament to the enduring ethos of athleticism, perseverance, and sportsmanship inherent to the Iroquois Steeplechase. Only one other horse has made this monumental Grade 1 Stakes win 3 times – Uncle Edwin won in 1982, 1985 and 1986. Snap Decision is a new legend in Nashville, and the pages of history are rewritten, leaving an unforgettable impression on all who bore witness to this historic event.
